A few weeks ago, I worked with an inspiring entrepreneur from the United Stateds. She is a mother of six children and the founder of a unique brand specializing in children’s makeup.
But these aren’t just makeup products; they are designed as toys for kids to explore their creativity. Her mission was clear: everything must be non-toxic, natural, and packaged in eco-friendly materials.
A Business Born from a Mother’s Love
Her story really touched me. It all began with her two daughters who wanted to play with makeup. She realized most products on the market were full of chemicals that could irritate a child’s sensitive skin. So, she decided to solve the problem herself.
She traveled all the way to Guangzhou alone, having already found a few suppliers on Alibaba. My job was to be her interpreter and sourcing partner for those meetings.
Going Above and Beyond: The Beauty Expo Surprise
While we were preparing for her supplier meetings, I realized the Beauty Expo(CIBE) was happening in Guangzhou at the same time, with more than 3,800 suppliers in attendance. So I asked her, “Would you like to check out the exhibition? It might have exactly what you need.” She was so excited about the news! We immediately adjusted her schedule and spent two full days exploring the fair.
By the end of the trip, she hadn’t just found what she was looking for—she found products that exceeded her expectations. Seeing her so happy with the results made all the walking worth it!
The Spark for “Tour Guide in China”
During our week together, we talked a lot about business. She mentioned that it was hard to find a reliable translator in Guangzhou through Google.
Since I have a background in website operations and marketing, she looked at me and said, “Tina, you are so helpful and you really understand business. You should build your own website to reach more people who need your help.”
She even shared her own experience in running a website and digital marketing. Thanks to her encouragement, the website you are looking at today was born.
Farewell & Gratitude
As we said our goodbyes, she gave me the biggest compliment I could ask for. She told me, “Next time I come to Beijing for a vacation, I want you to be my guide!” I can’t tell you how happy that made me. To me, this is a sign of trust. And that kind of trust is exactly what I strive to build with every client I work with.
I am so grateful to her for pushing me to take this step. Now, I’m ready to help even more of you find exactly what you’re looking for in China!
